Delta, BC: Strong Towns' Vision for Delta

Norm Van Eeden Petersman, Strong Towns director of movement building will be speaking in Delta, British Columbia, on September 25 & 26, 2024.

LOCATION: ElderCollege Learning Centre   |   DATE: September 25 & 26, 2024 

TIME: 10 a.m. PDT

Day 1: “The Failure of the Suburban Experiment and What We Can Do About It Now.”  This presentation analyzes the failures of the postwar North American city planning patterns and provides tools to improve communities. This session will outline a Strong Towns vision for Delta and how the Delta community can contribute to it.

Day 2: “Embrace Congestion: Productive Streets Emerge When We Focus on the Right Things.” Productive streets are a vital part of a prosperous community. In this session, learn why traffic congestion is actually a good thing and serves as a necessary precondition for the emergence of neighborhood retail and small business opportunities. This session will include a lively discussion of zoning ordinance reforms, transportation policies and neighborhood-level economics.
