Norm Van Eeden Petersman, director of membership and development at Strong Towns, will be giving a “Safe and Productive Streets” presentation in Langley, British Columbia, on September 4, 2024.

This event is hosted by Strong Towns Langley

LOCATION: Camp Beer  |  DATE: September 4, 2024  |  TIME: 7:30 p.m. PDT

What if traffic congestion isn't a problem, but actually the key to creating prosperous, economically thriving neighborhoods?

Productive streets are a vital part of a thriving community. In this session, learn why traffic congestion is actually a good thing and serves as a necessary precondition for the emergence of neighborhood retail and small business opportunities. This session will include a lively discussion of zoning ordinance reforms, transportation policies and neighborhood-level economics.

The problem of bad street design is frustrating, especially when most communities don’t have a vision or language for an alternative. But you don’t have to accept the status quo. Public officials, professionals and citizen advocates have taken control of their local streets and transformed their places all across North America. The same is possible in your city, too.
