Join us virtually for this stop on the Strong Towns Local-Motive Tour 2024, featuring Strong Towns Director of Community Action Edward Erfurt and guest speaker Yamini Karandikar, a Local Conversation leader from San Antonio, Texas.
LOCATION: Online Event | DATE: October 24, 2024 | TIME: Noon CDT
After a car crash in her San Antonio, Texas, community, Yamini Karandikar nominated the incident for the Crash Analysis Studio — a Strong Towns program that seeks to identify design issues that led to the crash and address those to prevent further crashes, rather than merely assigning blame to a driver or pedestrian. Participating in this process not only led to safer streets in San Antonio, but also brought the community together to address future challenges with a Strong Towns approach. In this session, Karandikar and Edward Erfurt (head of the Crash Analysis Studio program) will share their journey, insights and practical strategies for building safer streets and bringing neighbors together around that shared goal. They will delve into the process of crash analysis and how it can be a catalyst for community-led change.
Yamini Karandikar is a San Antonio resident and currently works in process improvement strategy in the electric and gas industry. She sees the community experiencing challenges with accessibility and road safety created by local development patterns and advocates for change. Yamini is a member of Strong Towns and a Strong Towns San Antonio local conversation leader.
