Which states have added the most members this week?

Earlier this week, we shared a Top 10 list of Strong Towns members per state, ranked per capita. Today we wanted to show you the Top 10 list of Strong Towns members per state in total, as well as the states that have added the most members so far this week, and a couple other interesting stats about membership.

TOP 10 STATES WITH highest total number of MEMBERS

(last year's ranking in parenthesis)

  1. Texas (1)
  2. Minnesota (2)
  3. California (3)
  4. New York (4)
  5. Florida (5)
  6. Wisconsin (8)
  7. Pennsylvania (7)
  8. Massachusetts (6)
  9. Washington (not ranked last year)
  10. Oregon (7)

Not a ton has changed, but it's great to see Washington added to this list. We did several events in Washington this year so I'm sure that's part of the reason. Wisconsin also moved up this year.

Top 10 States with the Most New Members This Week

  1. Texas
  2. Minnesota
  3. Oklahoma and California (tie)
  4. Washington, Massachusetts and Wisconsin (tie)
  5. Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio (tie)

Oklahoma is the biggest surprise on this list. The state has seen as 28% increase in members in the last four days. Thanks for your support, Oklahomans! And to all the other state residents on this list, thanks for helping us to grow the Strong Towns movement in your region.

There's still time for these numbers to move. I know there are a lot of states that can do better. Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois are just a few members away from being in the top 10. If you're from one of these states, invite a friend to join Strong Towns today, and let's see if we can't shift some of these rankings by tomorrow.

Other updates

I want to remark on one other shift from last year, and that's for our "Lonely Hearts Club."

Last November, we shared a list of three states that only had one member: Hawaii, Delaware and Vermont. Today, our Delaware and Vermont members are no longer alone, and other members have joined them. Unfortunately, our lone Hawaii member is still holding down the fort, so if you're reading this and you live in Hawaii, we need you! Become a member today.

The last piece of data I want to share is the amount of members we have outside the United States: 74 members in total. 55 of those are from Canada (and it should be noted, if Canada was counted as a state, it would rank 6th on our total membership list).

The rest of our international members are from a host of other countries including Brazil, Israel, Great Britain, Panama, Mexico, Australia, Cyprus, and Switzerland. A special thank you to all of those international members who care about Strong Towns and are interested in this mission.

And thanks to everyone who has joined us this week. There's still one more day to go. Let's do this.
