Announcing the 2017 Strongest Town Contest

We're incredibly excited to announce the beginning of the 2nd Annual Strongest Town Contest. Last year's contest surpassed our wildest dreams in terms of involvement. We received dozens of submission from towns big and small, tens of thousands of votes from all over the country and, at the end of the contest, crowned a surprise winner: Carlisle, PA.

Now we're ready to do it again. You are invited to nominate your town for this contest. The initial submissions will be judged by a panel of Strong Towns staff, board and contributors. Together, they'll determine the initial Sweet Sixteen, who will then compete in a series of challenges—to be voted on by Strong Towns readers and listeners—to ultimately choose the champion.

Initial Submissions

For the initial nominations, you (and hopefully some fellow residents from your town) will need to fill out this form which will tell us some basic things about the strength and resilience of your community including: how residents of your town are actively involved in local decision making, what kind of transportation options are available in your town, and whether your town has a solid financial footing. You're encouraged to read the Strong Towns Principles and Strong Town Strength Test to get an idea of what we mean. Submissions are due by 11pm CT on February 17.
