Strong Towns President Charles Marohn will be presenting in Anchorage, Alaska on February 21, 2024.

Enjoy an Anchorage Design Week special guest presentation by Strong Towns founder Chuck Marohn, presented by the Alaska Design Forum and hosted at the Anchorage Museum’s Auditorium on Wednesday evening, February 21st starting at 7:30p. Strong Towns supports thousands of people across the United States and Canada and advocates for a radically new way of thinking about the way we build our world.

Charles “Chuck” Marohn is the founder and president of Strong Towns. He is a land use planner and civil engineer with decades of experience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning, both from the University of Minnesota.

In addition to years of award-winning content created and shared by he and his team, Marohn was recently a keynote speaker at the Anchorage Assembly’s fall Housing Summit and participated in walking tours of Anchorage, including with the Reconnecting Fairview project team. His November visit to Anchorage seeded conversations that will continue on as multiple local community organizations share insights and resources for advocacy and advancing smart development.

Charles is the author of Strong Towns: A Bottom-Up Revolution to Rebuild American Prosperity (Wiley, 2019) and Confessions of a Recovering Engineer: Transportation for a Strong Town (Wiley 2021). He hosts the Strong Towns Podcast and is a primary writer for Strong Towns’ web content. He has presented Strong Towns concepts in hundreds of cities and towns across North America and we look forward to connecting his experience with Anchorage residents and creatives interested in community development and smart urban planning and design.
