New Resource: Community Responses to the Coronavirus
In response to the coronavirus, billions of people across the globe have shifted how they interact with their communities. Public squares sit empty. Restaurants have closed their dining halls. Students continue their studies at home.
These essential shifts—encouraged by municipalities, public health officials, and the media alike—have the goal of stymying the spread of the virus.
Yet zoom in on these communities and you'll discover another character in the story: citizens from all walks of life—from citizens to leaders, professionals to neighbors, and everyone in between—responsibly taking action to serve their peers in need.
That's why, in the Strong Towns Community, we are starting to compile and celebrate examples of how citizens across the globe have served their neighbors in response to the coronavirus.
We’ve created a dedicated page on our community site to document the ingenuity and courage of community heroes around North America and the world. The page is less than a few minutes old and already people are starting to share, including school district responses to make sure children get fed, ideas for local businesses, and this good news from Richmond, Virginia:
Have you or someone from your community helped a neighbor or group in need? Share it with others at the link below:
