2023 Strongest Town Contest SWEET SIXTEEN

We know there’s another high-profile tournament with brackets taking place right now, but here at Strong Towns, we’re excited about our own Sweet Sixteen. Today marks the launch of the eighth annual Strongest Town Contest, and your votes will help determine a champion from one of 16 worthy competitors.

The Strongest Town Contest celebrates communities that are facing challenges such as housing, transportation, and economic resilience head on. This slate of 16 cities and towns across North America was winnowed down from dozens of great nominations by Strong Towns staff.

You’ll find the eight first-round matchups in the brackets above. Click on matchups to see responses to our questionnaire on how each community’s priorities align with Strong Towns, then vote for your favorites (and share them on social media!). We’ll halve the selection each week until we crown the 2023 Strongest Town on April 14. This year’s winning delegation will also be flown to the Strong Towns National Gathering in Charlotte, North Carolina, where it will receive the award in person on May 31.
