Ally Smither

Ally Smither is freelance communications and management consultant for the grassroots organizing sector. She is the Communications Director for YES on Prop B - Fair for Houston, an MPO reform campaign for proportional representation based on population. She has been a volunteer organizer with Stop TxDOT I-45 since November 2020, and now works for Air Alliance Houston managing I-45 coalition work. She is also a professional opera singer, having sung with Houston Grand Opera, the Kennedy Center, and the Boston Symphony, among others. A doctoral candidate at the City University New York (CUNY) Graduate Center, Ms. Smither’s dissertation focuses on historical communal song in movement spaces.
