Susan Graham

Susan Graham is a retired nurse and resident of the Near Northside in Houston, Texas. Susan began her nursing career working in in patient psychiatry. From the bedside to positions in management, Susan advocated for patient’s rights and policy changes at the facilities where she worked. She retired from MD Anderson Cancer Center where she worked as a Research Nurse Manager in Neurosurgery.

Since retiring, advocating for her underserved community has become her new avocation. In 2019, Susan founded Stop TxDOT I-45, a grassroots organization fighting for equitable, sustainable, strategic transportation policy in Texas. When not fighting freeways, Susan is an advocate and community leader in her community serving on the Advisory Board of the MD Anderson YMCA in the Near Northside. For fun she loves to travel, and spending time with friends and family.

Stop TxDOT I-45’s mission is to challenge the status quo of transportation policy and to fight for all people in Houston to be able to participate in the decisions that affect health, safety, and mobility in their communities. We envision a future where transportation serves as a joyful connective tissue that moves all people safely and freely through a healthy, healing environment. www.stoptxdoti45.com
